You MUST be joking; you don't need either for PUGs. I've done URGOZ with a group that had TS, and one that didn't. The TS PUG died early, the group without it finished it.

IMO, if enough people were really intersted, I'm pretty sure a few people would come up with more than a few alternate ways to beat both missions. It was the same way with FOW/UW/Tombs; there are more than 1 way (read: non-cookie cutter build) to beat those. The problem (again, IMO) is that not a lot of people are interested in it...

I've never done the elite missions but I would like to try. If someone who is experienced with them has the time it would be great to post what is expected from each profession so that we can do our best. Just an idea but I would prefer to go in and not be a burden to the team. Thanks!

Nope, I still believe that good communication is the key to any mission. And talking on Vent/TS is alot easier than typing. Your argument does not hold water, your examples of a team with and without TS don't apply. You are talking about two totally seperate groups of people with different skill levels. I maintain that if you started out with the same group of strangers, you would have an easier time doing a mission with vent/ts than without.

Went with a PUG on Urgoz today, got up to the fourth room before the wipe. Lots of fun and teamwork with no quitters or screaming fits. When we found a gold chest members offered to lend keys to each other and pay each other back after the mission ended. In all i got a req 8 set of Gold Zodiac daggers ( Which I haven't id'ed yet) and I'm willing to try Urgoz and the Deep all weekend.

Anecdotes mean nothing.

The "problem" is that the "cookie-cutter" builds already work exceptionally well. There's no real need to come up with "alternate" builds.

Meeting hordes and hordes of ele who don't have meteor shower (and I thought ele was an easy class), warrior who run from mobs, ranger setting traps near caster instead of gate, mesemer with IW, so on...

That's what I get for being lazy and don't want to be a leader.

I believe any competent leader who know how to choose his/her team, he/she would be fine even on the first try... just finish up a bit slower than experienced group thats all.

I wouldn't mind them being extra hard. But I do mind them being so long. I tried Urgoz as a monk and after 2 hours my eyes were hurting from all the staring at the 12 slot party window, and still we weren't even halfway through.
But yeah, this looks like a good opportunity to make everyone happy, sort of. Those who always wanted to know how the hell do those mysterious elite missions look like will now know, and they'll stick to the good old non-elite PvE. That's my plan anyway

I agree with this.Having finally actually seen Urgoz mission I came away dissapointed ( thinking : is this what all the fuss was about ? ) .I think the non-elite PvE is a lot more fun and doesn't take hours on end of - quite repetitive- gameplay .I even enjoyed ToPK a lot more than Urgoz ( haven't seen the deep yet ,but after that very long experience at urgoz I think I'll pass - it will probably be similar anyway) .

Question: is it worth it trying out the elite missions for the drops even if you're unable to finish?

I refuse to go on the 1337 missions. If anet thinks that these are so awsome that only one alliance should have access well screw it and screw them. I am not going to be like omg I am now permitted to enter the leetest missions in game, WOW I am not worthy to be here...

I have played well over a year and I'll be danged if I am going to go in and be called n00b tard just because my guild does something besides ff all day. Double drop rates benifits more the ppl who have been playing them for months since they can run through easy and fast while the non-1337 spend time learning the area and are lucky to get much.

(i know u can get ferries to some of the missions, but not being open to public is unfair I paid the same price as everyone else to buy the game I wish I knew that I didn't get access to the best areas before I wasted my money)

I do the Deep every night, and we always run with the same build:

3 Knockdown Tanks(aka Shove) with an Icy Weapon, defensive skills such as Dolyak Signet are a must(esp. Room 3)
4 Healing Monks(Heal Party is needed, OoB is an effective elite for e-management, a condition removal skill and a hex removal skill are vital)
3 Echo Nukers(not actually Echo, just Arcane Echo, Ele Attunement for the elite, Mesmer secondary needed for revealed or inspired enchant to strip Kanaxai)
1 Blood Is Power necro, to keep the monks batteried(Well of Blood is needed to take up bodies so the outcasts don't raise those pesky flesh golems)
1 SS necro(Mesmer secondary again, inspired or revealed enchant is a must)

Room Assignments:
Room 1: 1 Warrior, 1 Nuker, 1 Monk
Room 2: BiP, 1 Nuker, 1 Monk(THIS ROOM DOES NOT ATTACK)
Room 3: 1 Warrior(must have dolyak sig or balanced stance), 1 Nuker, 1 Monk
Room 4: 1 Warrior, SS, 1 Monk

We always complete the Deep, never even get close to a wipe. This build makes the deep extremely simple. Also, make sure at least 1 warrior is W/A and uses recall, it is useful for pulling. Everyone with a monk primary or secondary MUST bring rebirth, everyone else brings a res sig except for the eles. A voice chat is helpful, such as Ventrilo or Teamspeak, just to keep everyone on the same page.

I only had time to do one run today...but the one that i did wasnt bad at all. yea about 4 people bailed in the very begining because they couldnt handle it( 2 warriors a monk and another). But even with a 8 man group it was still fun. Me and the other warrior ( me with riposte build him a hammer build didnt check what it was) would arggo, nukers would kill, healers would heal. It killed people fairly quickly and we survived about an hour or so. The mission is not THAT hard from what Ive seen.

just my opinion

lol I see you've got warrior mastered

you don't need stances at all...oh wait I forgot your a Wammo

You paid for the same right that [TC] or any other alliance did to farm faction. The 'price' in this case is the time and faction necessary to hold Cavalon/HzH, which you haven't 'paid.'

Manic, feel free to read what I wrote before commenting. I said without tactics you lose. That means without tactics, you will lose. You need stances. Thanks for playing though...

I can't believe so many people are having trouble with the elite missions. I've done the deep several times in pugs and never had the problems people are describing. It's just like any other mission...use your head and respond to the environment...it's really not that hard people.
